Talkinglimos.co.uk is a refreshingly different online limousine forum solely for the limousine industry. It is essentially a networking forum which is run by the members, for the members. The forum is the brainchild of Kevin Turner of Redvers Limousines who felt strongly that the industry needed a ‘one stop shop’ that dealt with all limo related advice and services. After months of discussion and planning with IT expert and friend Darrell Gowland, the forum became a tangible reality, and www.talkinglimos.co.uk was launched on 30th January 2006.

Now in its 25th month, the site receives over three million hits and around 15,000 unique visitors each month, and has rapidly gained members since its inception. Current membership stands at 355, with new applications to join being received daily. The strict joining requirements stipulate that only people with limo related websites may become members. However, all applications are judged on their merits, and exceptions can be made. Consideration for membership will be given to new operators who are just starting out, and whose website is still under construction, and to chauffeurs who are employed by limousine companies

Alongside Kevin and Darrell, eight moderators share the responsibility for running the forum, and regularly discuss new ideas and suggestions. The moderators represent all areas of the industry, and include both new and experienced operators from different parts of the UK. The first moderator, Miter Limos was chosen by Kevin, and as the forum grew and evolved, other moderators were chosen by the team. The moderating/Administration team now includes Miter Limos ( Administrator), Limoscene-Craig, Carnie, Proff, Porkpiepete, and Sassylimo.

The vast majority of talkinglimos members are based throughout the United Kingdom, covering both urban and rural areas. Every single area of the limousine industry is represented through the diversity of the membership, from the large fleet operator to the smaller, one man, one limo business. Members collectively have ownership of every conceivable type of limo, ranging from the traditional eight seater Lincoln to the sixteen seater triple axle Hummer…..there is even a Goth limo and a Playboy limo!

Members are encouraged to display specially designed talkinglimos stickers on their limos so they may recognise and acknowledge each other whilst out and about. Any member who requests the free stickers is automatically entitled to use the forum’s mass emailing system for any limo related business, including sales and promotions.

There is a friendly atmosphere and much camaraderie amongst the members brought about by the forum’s ‘be nice’ rule. All questions asked by both new and experienced operators are welcomed, taken seriously, and answered quickly and expertly by other members with empathy and humour, so that everyone learns from each other. It is amazing how quickly quite serious problems can be resolved, thanks to assistance and cooperation from the members.

Here are just two of the many success stories. One member made a post at 8.06pm stating that he needed urgent help from a mechanic. Thanks to a quick and helpful response from forum members, a mechanic duly arrived at 11.20am the next day, a new intake manifold arrived at 11.30am, the job was completed, and the limo was back on the road at 6.00pm, less than 24hours after the member had asked for help.

Another member needed to locate a C300 in Scotland, and the request was answered by telephone, within 15 minutes of the post appearing. Such is the popularity of the forum, that any limo related news or gossip spreads rapidly throughout the industry within a few hours.

Although non- members (guests) are not allowed to post on the forum, they have limited access to some general areas of limousine related information. The ‘members only’ areas include the ever popular ONLINE CHAT, where members can enjoy light hearted banter and pass messages online. A GOOD SAFE PLACE TO PARK is where members recommend places to park in safety, preferably with food and toilets nearby. MEMBERS JOB SWAP is where surplus jobs are posted by members and are up for grabs. (There is a separate section for FIRE ENGINE HIRES.) What we can and cannot do in the industry is discussed in LIMOS AND THE LAW. Members who want their website appraised in a helpful and positive way can visit RATE MY WEBSITE. There are also extensive areas dedicated to Limo Parts, Limo Repairs, and Limo Dealers.

All members of talkinglimos resolve to help each other for the good of the industry and not for personal gain. The talkinglimos forum is a fun and useful place to visit, and is highly recommended to all who work in the limousine industry. The administration team are now working towards Maintaining being the number one Limousine Association in both the UK and Europe, and the first port of call for anything and everything that is limo related.

Talkinglimos is Europes Largest growing Limousine Association . Why don’t you join today? Membership is FREE. If you’re not on www.talkinglimos.co.uk ......then you’re not part of the limo scene.
